Message from David Wagner, Ph.D.
This past summer, the Conservatory had some bad luck:! A devastating hail storm damaged much of the glass covering to the conservatory; which is listed on the National Historic Register. This is a historic loss, but it is also detrimental to the
treasure trove of invaluable botanical specimens housed in the Garfield Conservatory.! Here's a link containing some photos of the damage: http://www.garfield-conservatory.org/
Help from artists is important all the more, because In response to a call issued by The Susan Kathleen Black Foundation and BLOSSOM
Curator/Tour Director, David J. Wagner, Ph.D., for donations of original art or giclée prints to help The Garfield Conservatory in Chicago, a number of BLOSSOM II Artists have stepped forward to donate original art and giclée prints for the conservatory's annual fund raiser and auction: http://www.fleurotica.org/
The Garfield Conservatory in Chicago is displaying BLOSSOM II over the 2011 Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years holiday season. Fleurotica http://www.fleurotica.org/ is the Conservatory's chief annual fundraising event.! It supports and benefits the programs at the Conservatory as well as summer internships for local under-served youth in Chicago. |
